Dr. Michael Hoffman will present on the topics of sibling rivalry and responsibility – when one child is deaf or hard of hearing, the importance of building a strong first language foundation, and language deprivation syndrome – social, emotional, and intellectual consequences for deaf people without access to spoken or signed communication.

Dr. Michael Hoffman is a Pediatric Psychologist at Nemours Children’s Health, Delaware
who specializes in working with children with hearing differences. He provides integrated
psychological services to through the Hearing Collaborative Clinic, with an emphasis
patient-centered, collaborative care and improving quality of life in children and adolescents
with hearing differences. Dr. Hoffman is also an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the
Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University.
