Families are a critical part of the home, school and community partnership. Every family has assets and can use its own personal experiences and knowledge to create and implement a plan of success. Developed in 2010, The Family & Health Leadership Academy, (FHLA), is a rigorous parent leadership training to develop parent leaders in the community who become effective change-agents both at the local and state levels in education and health.
The Family Health Leadership Academy (FHLA) is designed to inspire and empower parents and caregivers to become leaders in their communities and their children’s schools. Participants will develop their skills in communication, understand the Delaware’s education systems, learn about the “Learn the Signs” CDC early childhood campaign, and identify leadership opportunities on councils, boards, and committees where they will be able to share their passion for and knowledge of education and also make changes in critical health systems. All sessions will be held in English, Spanish, and Haitian Creole.
