PIC Parent Consultants provide one-to-one support and information to parents and caregivers of children with disabilities on the phone, by email, or in person by appointment. Parent Consultants are up-to-date on the latest information related to special education, disabilities issues, general education, and technology. Our Parent Consultants truly understand the challenges of parenting, because most often, they are parents themselves! Parent Consultants do not serve as case managers or personal advocates. Instead, they provide individual guidance and support to empower parents and caregivers so that they may become lifelong advocates for their child. We believe that parents have the greatest impact on a child’s life.

Our Contact form can also be downloaded and returned to our office. Within 1-2 days, a Parent Consultant will respond to help with the necessary information and resources. The consultant may ask you to provide supporting information, such as an IEP, recent evaluations, or other school documentation that will help further identify opportunities for solutions. Although Parent Consultants may attend some school meetings with parents or caregivers, PIC does not have the staffing capacity to honor every request to attend a meeting. Nonetheless, we will help families prepare for school meetings through individual consultations and direct parents to a PIC workshop, webinar or other relevant training sponsored by another organization. After an initial contact, Parent Consultants stay engaged and will follow-up to make sure that you are moving in a positive direction until no further assistance is needed.
We understand that the privacy of your family is important. All information is confidential and never shared, unless we receive your permission to do so. Occasionally, we may ask you to provide us with feedback about our work to meet requirements of our funders. Be assured that your response will only be shared in the aggregate and will not be personally identifiable.
