Cohort 2 — June 25 – 26, 2026 (Location TBD)
The Delaware Parent Mentor Program is a statewide training initiative that prepares parents, caregivers, and community members to serve as knowledgeable peer mentors for families navigating the special education process. Through annual orientation and comprehensive training, participants build expertise in IDEA, Delaware special education regulations, Section 504, procedural safeguards, family engagement, and effective advocacy strategies.
Developed in partnership with the Delaware Department of Education and modeled after successful programs nationwide, certified Parent Mentors are equipped to support families during IEP meetings, conflict resolution, and other complex processes. Active mentors complete ongoing training to maintain certification and serve as an extension of PIC’s work, providing individualized peer support through referrals and school meeting assistance.
Don’t miss this opportunity to use your experience and gifts to become a change agent and provide meaningful peer support to families across Delaware.
