Hosted By: Parent Information Center of Delaware (PIC)

February 19, 2026 12:00 PM

 Objective:

Disagreements can arise at any point in a child’s special education journey. This webinar provides families, caregivers, and advocates with a clear overview of the Special Education Dispute Resolution System and the protections available under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).

Participants will receive a brief background on IDEA and learn how disputes related to special education services can be addressed collaboratively and formally. The session will explain the dispute resolution continuum of options including:

  • IEP Facilitation
  • Mediation
  • State Complaints
  • Due Process Complaints

The webinar will also help families understand where to start when a problem arises, how to decide which option may be appropriate, and what to expect throughout the process.

This session is designed to empower families with knowledge, promote effective communication with schools, and support informed decision-making when navigating special education disputes.
