Recorded Webinar Series: Supporting the Whole Child Webinar Series – What is SEL and Why Should I know about it? 9/10/2020

Social and emotional learning (SEL) is the process through which children and adults understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions. SEL is essential to supporting the whole child.

COVID-19 closures disrupted learning and established routines for children, created anxiety and uncertainty and created added stresses for families already contending with challenges. Now more than ever, recognizing and addressing the emotional, mental and behavioral needs of children are critical. Delaware Department of Education and Parent Information Center of Delaware have partnered to offer a 5-part series for children and families on social emotional learning. The series includes:

  • September 10, 2020 – 12 noon: Understanding Social Emotional Learning (SEL): What is it and why should I know about it?
  • September 17, 2020 – 6pm: SEL in the Home
  • September 24, 2020 – 6pm: Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) and its role in Social Emotional Learning (SEL)
  • October 1, 2020 – 6pm : Connecting SEL to IEP Goals to Support Behavior
  • Oct. 8, 2020 – 12pm: SEL & Career and Technical Education (CTE)
